Facebook Marketplace Image Requirements: Seller Guide (2026)

Facebook Marketplace is one of the largest peer-to-peer selling platforms. While it has fewer strict technical requirements than Amazon or Walmart, image quality still significantly impacts your listing's visibility and buyer interest.

Facebook allows up to 10 photos per listing. The first photo appears as the thumbnail in search results and the Marketplace feed. Multiple clear, well-lit photos increase buyer confidence and reduce the number of questions you receive.

Minimum: 500x500 pixels.

**Recommended:** 1200px on the longest side for clear, detailed images.

**Aspect ratio:** No strict requirement, but square and 4:3 images display most consistently across the Facebook app and desktop.

**Best practice:** Shoot at the highest resolution your phone camera supports and let Facebook handle the resizing. Modern phones capture at 4000px+ which is more than sufficient.

Accepted formats: JPEG and PNG only. Facebook Marketplace does not accept WebP, GIF, BMP, or other formats.

**4. Photograph defects** — For used items, clearly show any scratches, stains, or wear. This builds trust and prevents disputes.

**5. Clean background** — A clean, uncluttered background helps the item stand out. White walls, clean floors, or a simple table work well.
